The Car's Story
This 1973 Chevy Nova SS was originally purchased by my dad just out of high school, while he was working as a bagger at a local grocery store. He has remained the owner ever since. In the 1980s, he began an engine swap—removing the original 350 engine and automatic transmission, and replacing them with a 327 engine and 4-speed manual transmission, believed to be from a Corvette of the same era. However, he ran into issues installing the clutch linkage, and the car ended up sitting in his barn for nearly 40 years. In 2024, my friend and I pulled it out and began working to get it running again, with help from my friend’s dad. After doing some research, I was able to identify the engine and transmission as a 210-horsepower 327 and a 4-speed Muncie transmission, both originally from a 1967 Chevy Camaro. The Nova’s original 350 engine is still stored in my dad’s barn, although the original transmission is long gone.
